Unit 01_2022/23
My project looks at the built environment through a feminist lens. It scrutinizes how we exist in urban environments and how we got to understand their physical reality through patriarchal values. Male and female intelligence is different (Barbara Thayer Bacon). The built environment and the architecture profession have been dominated by male intelligence since its conception 4000 years ago.
But what does a city that uses female intelligence look like?
If AI is going to be a part of the future of architecture, how can we redesign the code of its intelligence to include a more gender unbiased epistemology. Relational epistemology is based on feminist thinking (Barbara Thayer Bacon).  It is a form of knowing based on connection and discussion. It does not focus on objects and subjects, rather on their relationship.
